Snowflurry Testimonials

Blown Away by Positive Influences!
by M. B. Hicks

Wow! It was a flurry of tips, team building and information gathering. I was so impressed at the quality of information, number of adult & teen volunteers, and the activities provided for the 5th and 4th graders whose parent´s registered them!

In January, the 5th and 4th graders brought home a registration form for Operation Snowflurry. My understanding was that Snowflurry is a 1 day seminar for the prevention of alcohol and drug use. This seemed like a great chance to expose my son to a non-sport and non-academic event and give him the chance to build moral fiber.

I was impressed that Flurry supported my parenting by

1. Increasing my son´s awareness of the risks associated with the use of alcohol and drugs.

2. Having my child "practice" getting out of difficult or uncomfortable situations in a SAFE environment.

3. Enriching his character with practicing respectful, kind, and compassionate responses and behaviors.

4. Exposing him to groups of peers he DOES NOT KNOW! and helping him realize everyone is differently "abled."

5. Explaining to me the importance of telling my child that I"Expect him not to use!" and that it is up to ME to continue to support him in learning How to go about this!

Although, my son did not thank me for making him go, the time and tears (This wasn´t something he wanted to do) were well spent!

Sincerely,

A Snowflurry Participant's Mother

P.S. It would be wonderful if more children had the opportunity to
build up their abilities to handle peer pressure! Sign up your
child. You will be building a community of positive influences!
